Screening for Early Treatment

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children have an orthodontic screening check-up no later than age 7.

For children with minor jaw imbalances (or mismatch between upper and lower jaws - often seen as a overbite, underbite or crossbite ) it is possible to modify growth patterns to allow more favourable jaw relationships, and improved facial esthetics.

Appropriate timing and appliances are necessary to direct, and in some cases restrict, jaw growth.  A thorough understanding of which problems require early therapy and which problems are better treated in the teenage years is essential in avoiding unnecessary cost and treatment.  In conjunction with braces, orthopedic treatment will deliver exceptional overall results.  In some cases, appropriate growth modification can improve facial imbalances and eliminate the subsequent need for jaw surgery.

When you visit or contact us, our expert staff will help you understand these goals, and provide an abundance of information to allow an informed treatment decision.
