Saskatoon – Stephenson Orthodontics
Halloween is just around the corner! Now that you have braces, you need to be smart about which treats you eat.
But don’t worry, there are still lots of candy and treats you can enjoy!
Treats to Avoid with Braces
- Hard candy – suckers, jolly ranchers, gobstoppers
- Sticky/Gummy candy – starburst, caramel, swedish fish
- Chewy candy – twizzlers, tootsie rolls, skittles
- Popcorn and nuts – these can get stuck in your braces and damage your wires and/or brackets
- Gum and Bubble Gum
- Jerky
- Carmel and Candy Apples
**anything hard, sticky or chewy

Treats and Candy that you can Still Enjoy with Braces
- Chocolate bars – Hershey’s, 3 Musketeers, Hershey kisses, Reese’s Peanut Butter cups
- Plain M&M’s (non peanut)
- Soft cookies
- Ice cream
- Cupcakes
- Marshmallows and marshmallow candies
- Cheese Puffs
- Ritz Bits mini crackers

It is also very important that you brush and floss your teeth extra carefully after you enjoy your candy.
Remember that your braces are temporary and you will be back to enjoying all the candy soon!
Have a safe and Happy Halloween 🎃👻🤡
